Black Gold: Struggle for the Niger Delta

A while ago, I wanted to do a most anticipated movies post but was only able to come up with Relentless, the movie with Nneka, Gideon Okeke and Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Black Gold: Sturggle for the Niger Delta. I haven't been able to watch any of them as I haven't found them online and have no clue where to buy them where I live. However, as time went on, my interest in Relentless waned a bit while I became more and more excited for the release of Black Gold. I don't know how many times I have watched the preview for it and looked online for information. As far as I know, the movie has been completed, premiered (and won an award) but I have yet to see an official release date. I find that disappointing because I think it is a story that needs to be told and from the trailer at lease, I feel like the movie was executed very well. The movie is based on the on-going struggle in Nigeria's Niger Delta region where the oil is treated with more importance than the people who do not get compensated for the destruction oil spills cause. From the trailer, it seems the movie focuses on the rise of the rebel groups who try to get back their land or get justice of some sort. I don't know how to true to life the story is but that is a problem I may or may not have after I see it. I'm also really interested to see how the movie ends. I'm not 100% sure that the lead actor is Nigerian but somehow I don't mind because I can't think of anyone in the industry right now who would do the role of leader of the rebels justice. I might be wrong and admittedly, my knowledge of Nigerian actors and actresses is limited to the more popular ones, but that is how I feel.

This post isn't to do much more than mention the film and the lack of information regarding it's official release date. Even their facebook page is devoid of substantial info. I am still really interested in seeing this movie so I hope it gets released to the public soon. It has a slew of Hollywood actors including Vivica A. Fox, Eric Roberts, Michael Madsen and Sarah Wayne Callies (formerly known as that girl from Prison Break). The movie is directed by Jeta Amata and also stars Mbong Amata. Here is the trailer for those who haven't seen it or who (like me) just want to watch it continuously until the movie is released:

P.S. Feel free to send any information about this movie my way, please and thank you.
